Your qualification is “competency-based.” This means we need to see you can do the skills and understand the knowledge to meet industry standards.
After completing your subjects, your final unit result will be:
Competent: You’ve shown you can do it!
Not (Yet) Competent: You’ll need more opportunities to demonstrate competence.
Our focus is on you proving you’re ready for the real world.
Let’s get those skills sorted!💪
Think Workplace Skills, Not School Grades! 🧠➡️🛠️
This training style is different from what you might be used to at school or uni. It's designed for real workplace skills, where being able to nail the task correctly every single time is super important. Think about it – in a job, you can't really be "kind of good" at something critical!
Unlike school or uni where you could bomb one assignment but still scrape through the subject, here you need to pass all assessments to get your qualification.
Why? Because in the real world of animal care, you need to be fully competent at every task. An animal's well-being depends on you getting it right! With competency-based training, you get to keep learning and practicing until you can confidently show you've mastered all the skills and knowledge you need for your qualification – so you'll be totally job-ready!
Now, this doesn't mean it's a free-for-all with endless tries. You'll get two attempts at each assessment. If you don't quite nail it, you'll be marked as "not yet competent." Don't stress! When you feel ready, you can simply re-enrol in that specific subject or unit and try again. Think of it as getting yourself fully equipped for success!
Your Learner's Guides: Your Roadmap to Success 🗺️
Your Learner's Guides are your go-to resource! They're packed with everything you need to learn and ace your assessments. Follow them, and you'll be well on your way to success!
Practice Makes Progress: Making the Most of Learning Activities 🚀
In many of your subjects, you'll find cool learning activities that give you a percentage score. Think of these less as formal tests and more as your personal training ground! They're not counted as official assessment results, but they're super valuable for showing you (and your awesome Educator) how your learning is coming along.
You might not ace every single one, and that's totally okay! It's all part of the learning process. But don't skip them! These activities are designed to build your confidence and give you a real feel for when you're ready to tackle the assessments that do count towards your overall competency.
Think of them as your practice runs before the big game! They'll help you:
- See what you're nailing: Spot the areas you're feeling good about.
- Pinpoint areas to focus on: Identify where you might need a little extra attention.
- Build the knowledge you need: Get you totally prepared for your assessments and for rocking it in your future career!
So, dive into those learning activities, give them your best shot, and use the feedback to boost your confidence and know when you're ready to shine in your assessments! You've got this! 💪
