STUDY TIPS + CREATING A STUDY SCHEDULE

Getting help if you’ve fallen behind - Part 2:

Assessing time available to study

So you’ve assessed the situation and taken time to consider why you want to study and what you're passionate about in this industry.

Next, its helpful to look at your course and the study load associated with it so you can form a plan to get back on-track.

Here are our recommended study hours to guide you:

  • The Cert II course requires around 12 hours of study per week
  • The Cert III course requires around 15 hours of study per week.
  • The Cert IV course (done over two years) involves around 10 hours of study per week

Now, depending on which course you are enrolled in, look at how many months ago you enrolled (and thus how many months you have left to complete all the work).

Example –
If you are 3 months into your Certificate III with no work completed, you will need to increase those study hours by a third to approx. 20 hours per week or consider getting an extension.

Once you know the work hours involved each week, you can begin to ask yourself some honest questions:

  • Is it even possible for me with my other life commitments?
  • With the right support in place could I do this?
  • Is this amount of study hours per week doable or should I consider extending?

If the answer is no, please talk with Student Assist about your options such as extending.

If the answer is yes, we can move onto discussing time management, begin mapping out your week and get more detailed about what time each week you can study. And if you haven’t already jump on and book your Wellbeing call now so I can assist you in putting the right steps in place to achieve this goal.

All of us here at ACVN want you to succeed so let’s work together to make that happen.

Until we have our Wellbeing chat, you can find some tips and resources on Time blocking here that you can utilise until we have our wellbeing call.
