Personal expenses may include membership fees under contract (e.g. gym), essential clothing, pet care expenses, medications - things that cannot be cancelled or delayed in purchasing.

Discretionary spending include entertainment, meals out, cinemas, takeaway, non-essential clothing, alcohol, cigarettes etc. Do not include these costs here as they are not factored into financial hardship as they are not essential living costs.
